Two disciples on an Emmaus road soon discovered that they weren’t traveling alone…

The scales on Saul’ eyes disappeared by virtue of the hands of another disciple who was willing to meet him where he was…

Peter’s words over the bed of Tabitha brought healing and restoration to her home, which, in turn, became a witness to those neighbors beside her…

Each diverse experience ultimately shared one common thread:  healing, help and wholeness was realized through the hands of those who reached out in the name of the Lord.

The risen Lord still restores and He still works through human hands—the body of Christ…

…The body we call the Church.  You are a very real part of that body!  Did you know that?  If you did, others want…no, they need to know.  Do not doubt the profound power that is found in your presence!

Have you ever wanted to help within the church, but you don’t really know how?  Perhaps you’ve not found the strength to swing a hammer and nail with Christian Builders.  Maybe your schedule wont permit you to lift boxes of food at our Pantry outreach and yet, you’ve never had a problem carrying a conversation.  Are you one who always enjoys speaking, but doesn’t prefer large audiences?

Well, the impending formation of WUMC’s Care Team Ministry might be something that fits your gifts and graces!  The WUMC Care Team is our collaborative effort to represent the hands and feet of Christ to reach out and meet people in our community where they are.   This ministry includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cards or Courtesy calls to new or visiting families
  • Visits to church members who are sick or home-bound
  • Joint visits with the Pastor to those who are hospitalized
  • Training on sharing communion during home or hospital visits

Largely, the function of this team is a responsibility of the entire church as a whole, yet concentrated training will be supplied to those who have a special interest in this particular facet of ministry.  If you’ve read this and you’re interested, don’t hesitate to call the church office or contact Pastor Jake for more information.  In the meantime, be in prayer for the formation of this ministry and it’s future direction.
