Some come for food, but we all come hungry.
“Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you something to drink?”
“Truly I tell you, whatever you´ve done for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me (Matt. 25: 37-40)
The Food Pantry is one of Wayne United Methodist Church’s most successful ministries. Since its beginning over 15 years ago, the Pantry has served hundreds of families In the community and surrounding area without requirements. Every Thursday from 5:30 – 6:30 volunteers distribute boxes of food to those in need. From our pantry shelf to your place setting—it begins and ends with grace.
The food pantry at Wayne United Methodist Church is an ecumenical ministry that is sustained not only by local membership, but also consistently supported by the helping hands and resources of other local community agencies and churches, namely The Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Wayne Baptist Church and the Big Sandy-Tug Cooperative Parish.
In tandem with Huntington Area Food Bank and USDA commodities, our food pantry is funded by monetary and in-kind donations geared to temporarily aid families in need. Our weekly food distribution is one practical and visible way of illustrating that God’s grace is a free gift made available to all through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. That transformative grace is something we all crave!
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
